As a hearing health professional, the performance and accuracy of your audiometric equipment is of utmost importance to you. Here at Biocoustics, we have a service department that fully recognizes and appreciates the need for properly maintained and calibrated equipment. To this end, the system that we employ to complete the calibration of your equipment is calibrated annually at the factory in which it was built. Sound measurement equipment has strict tolerances itself, and an annual calibration of this equipment insures that it is functioning correctly. Also, this process confirms that our test equipment is operating according to manufacturer's specifications, to insure the best possible calibration of your equipment.  In order to prevent possible future problems with your equipment, it is strongly recommended that each piece of audiometric equipment receive a full calibration and preventative maintenance check annually. When you schedule a calibration with Biocoustics Instruments, Inc., you will receive a full calibration done to ANSI standards. This will include measurement and adjustment to the appropriate standard of frequency, distortion, sound pressure level, attenuator linearity and cross-talk. Preventative maintenance is an important part of our calibration visit. Our technician will open, check and adjust each piece of equipment to manufacturer's specifications. All contacts, connectors and switches will be cleaned. Cords and cushions are inspected and replaced, if necessary. Upon completion of your calibration, a copy of a certificate of calibration will be mailed to you for your records. The original will be kept on file in our Hanover, MD office.
